>> Hannah >> Chewelah Photographer

So much of me is made of what I learned from you
You'll be with me like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have re-written mine
By being my friend:
Anna Kendrick + Kristen Chenoweth - For Good

It was a balmy 50 degrees when Hannah and I went out for a quick photoshoot to an old abandoned lot in the middle of our small town.
"Climb onto the truck" I instructed.
She looked at me like I was crazy, "how?" she asked.
Since I had JUST been sitting on the truck I knew it was possible.
"I don't know, you just kind of....jump."
I watched her carefully 'jump' on top of the truck.

This, my friends, is Hannah.
She is a photographer, fellow pianist and kindred spirit.

Goodness!  That picture on the left....
Can it get any cuter?

Oh... we also took a signature Paige Overturf hair flipping picture!

Hannah, I'm going to miss you while you're away at college, but when you get back we will have SO many adventures!
I can't wait!

Anna Rose

>> Behind the Scenes >> 2013

“ You’ve got to push yourself harder. You’ve got to start looking for pictures nobody else could take. You’ve got to take the tools you have and probe deeper."
William Albert Allard

At the end of the year I always like to go through and see pictures people have sent me of myself taking pictures. Sometimes they're pretty cool and sometimes I hope the outside world will never see them. :)
End of the year posts are one of my favorite things about a new year.
Seeing all my favorite photographers show their favorite shots and what they do behind the scenes.
Although there are times when I'm glad no one was there to capture my clumsiness.

Like the time when I was taking senior pictures and the light was AMAZING!
To get the picture JUST right I put one foot on steep short incline.
A gravel incline that led to a empty ditch.
I needed to be just a LITTLE bit lower, so I moved my foot a little bit more. The next thing I know I'm starting to slide towards the bottom of the ditch.
The photographer side of me quickly kicked in and I took two or three pictures before reaching the bottom. A few minutes later I was out of the ditch and taking pictures again...
...After we had a good hard laugh.

It's times like those when I'm glad no one else was around.
And so without further adieu, here is what I look like behind the scenes.

Truth be told...
sometimes I have short people problems and can't get my camera high enough.
So I either hold my camera up higher, jump or stand on things.

Usually I just stand on things.

"To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them. "
– Elliott Erwitt

>> My Goals for 2014

Happy 2014!

I hope that you had a simply splendid New Year, I know that mine great!
Every new year I write a list of things that I want to accomplish this year.
Because one of the things on my list is to blog at least once a week I decided that I should share some of theses goals with you!

1. I want to try more star photography, especially the Milky Way.

2. I want to do a ballet session.
I've always been fascinated by ballet, the strength and balance that it takes to stand on one foot. And to make it look good? That is incredible!
The last few years its been a dream of mine to shoot a ballet session, so this year I added it to my list!

3. I want to blog at least once a week.
You already heard about this one....
I know that during fall and winter I will be too busy to keep this up, but until then this is my goal.

4. I want to work on self portraits.
This one is so hard. I know how to pose others, but I have no clue how to pose myself, which is much harder. My only rule is that my self portraits must be more than 'hold camera out and take a picture'

5. I want to buy a laptop.
This is definitely a long-term investment. I have been using my family's desktop, which works, but is not ideal. So for a few different reasons I've decided that this is the year.

6. I want to experiment with photographing waterfalls.
I've been around waterfalls very little. I've seen them and taken picture, but never set out to take pictures of waterfalls.

I decided not to write down all of my 2014 goals, the list would go on for quite a while. But I decided that 6 was a nice number... not to many, and not to few.

What are your goals for 2014?

XOXO,
Anna Rose
